At Ko’olau Radiology, we take special care to assure that each patient receives the highest quality examination possible. Our specialty imaging technology team has advanced certification in mammography, ultrasonography, and computed tomography. The radiologist is certified by the American Board of Radiology and has leading edge expertise in a wide array of medical imaging specialties. Both the technologists and radiologist participate in ongoing training in new procedures in their field.
How are general x-rays taken?
General x-rays are performed using digital radiography. Film images are no longer made, but can be produced for physicians upon request. These images are captured with digital sensors in as little time as it takes for a simple breath hold.
How do I prepare for an exam?
Exam preparations vary with the type of procedure being done. Many exams require no preparation. Some procedures may require NPO (nothing by mouth) for up to 6 hours before an exam. Types of medications or possible allergic reactions play an important role for exams that involve contrast injections. Specific instructions will be provided to you at the time of scheduling either by your doctor of someone from our team.
